At la prep, we believe that being a good corporate citizen is a fundamental part of achieving sustained value creation for both society and our company.  We are committed to building successful partnerships with local suppliers, using environmentally-friendly operational practices, and supporting charitable causes.

With regards to our community investment work, our preference is to work in partnership with other organizations.  By combining our core competencies, we can achieve more than if we worked alone. We are committed to providing the highest quality coffee to our clients, including certified coffees such as those through Transfair. While we recognize the importance of Transfair and do promote Fair Trade certified products through our Feature Coffee Program, our approach to responsible coffee farming continues to increase in its scope as we support organizations such as the Rainforest Alliance (www.rainforestalliance.org) and Direct Trade partnerships. By developing these unique relationships we support coffee farms and coffee farming co-ops that recognize the value in practicing economic, social and environmental sustainability programs. We also support charitable organizations like Coffee Kids (www.coffeekids.org), a program that helps bring much needed resources to farming communities.

In terms of the environment, we are very aware of the impact of our coffee business.  That’s why we have chosen a compostable paper coffee cup.  The PLA coating makes our cups compostable in municipal and commercial composting facilities.  We are also very proud that our coffees are roasted in a facility that uses 100% green electricity, something that is very new to the coffee roasting industry!
