The coffee program switch to Rainforest Alliance Certified™ is intended to provide our customers with a great tasting coffee while providing more value to the customer experience and the direction of the money spent at our La Prep store locations. In effect, every time a customer chooses to purchase a coffee at La Prep, they are voting with their cup for a better world. As one of the first quick-service restaurant franchises in Canada to commit to a 100% Rainforest Alliance Certified ™ sourced coffee, La Prep is once again upping the ante to do their part to promote a “Better Coffee for a Better World”.
* All of La Prep’s coffee cups are compostable in municipal and commercial composting facilities.
Our key coffee program
Rainforest Alliance Certified
Bittersweet chocolate, smoky, full-bodied
While this coffee is what is known in North America as a French roast, its actually much darker than a traditional French coffee. The coffee is roasted to the point that the beans reach a deep, dark brown color and aromatic oils coat the surface of the beans. Roasting beyond the second crack to develop this color brings out bittersweet, smoky notes in the beans and mutes the brighter, winy notes.
These beans are hand-picked from high-altitude Rainforest Alliance Certified® farms in Latin America.
Rainforest Alliance Certified™
ORGANIC SIERRA VERDE
Citrus, chestnut, buttery, balanced, herbaceous
The Sierra Verde Project showcases coffees grown organically and under the Rainforest Alliance’s exacting standards to bring you coffees that are always seasonally fresh and of the highest caliber.
The Rainforest Alliance is a non-profit organization that certifies progressive farms that adhere to stringent environmental, labor and living standards. Organic certification ensures that the crop is grown without the use of chemical fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides or fungicides – a process that is not only better for you, but for the earth as well.
Rainforest Alliance Certified™
Toasted walnut, cherry, caramel, balanced, crisp
Certified by the Rainforest Alliance, La Soledad adheres to stringent environmental, labor and community standards. The benefits of certification are clear throughout the farm: children are educated, farmers are paid an equitable wage for their work and wildlife and the environment are protected. La Soledad recently completed a state-of-the-art water treatment facility that ensures that their coffee-washing process is efficient and environmentally sound. As well, the farm has devised a vermiculture program for composting their coffee cherry pulp – an organic material that would otherwise go to waste – to fertilize their avocado grove.
This well-balanced, clean-tasting coffee features notes of toasted walnut and cocoa powder, with undertones of sweet, juicy cherries. It is roasted light to preserve its full flavor.
Our Coffee program will also feature a feature flavor that will exist within our stores on a quarterly basis alongside with our flavored coffee selections.
