la prep is dedicated to offering our customers fresh food they can feel good about, which starts with high quality assurance standards in our supply chain. We are proud of our animal welfare policy, below, which meets or exceeds best practice within the foodservice industry. We are committed to working with Canadian suppliers to adhere to adhere to the following standards of animal care.
 
100% Cage-Free Eggs  
 
We are committed to sourcing only cage-free eggs by 2025 in the interest of advancing the welfare of egg-laying hens. This is a goal we share with many other Canadian food companies, in recognition of the fact that cage-free systems are better for animal welfare, and that the majority of Canadian consumers believe it is unacceptable to keep egg-laying hens confined in cages for nearly their entire lives.
 
 
Better Welfare for Broiler Chickens  
 
Our commitment to animal welfare also extends to the chickens we source for meat, which are known as ‘broilers’ in the food industry. By 2024, we will source only chicken certified by Global Animal Partnership (GAP) and require all chickens to be processed in a manner that avoids live-dumping and live-shackling, and instead utilizes a pre-shackle, multi-step controlled-atmosphere processing system that’s widely hailed as more humane.
